You Made it Through the Year. Why Stop Now?
It’s almost New Year’s Eve. Another year, and you’re still here, breathing, working, making plans. And truth be told, that’s the way it should be.
Around 10,000 people around the country didn’t make it this far. They got involved with drunk driving somehow. They might have been driving impaired, or riding with a drunk driver, or perhaps they were in another car, obeying the law, when a drunk driver hit them. Perhaps they were just trying to cross the street, unaware that the driver heading towards them was not in control of his or her vehicle.
But you’re alive. And there are two things you can do to stay way:
- Never drive drunk
- See that others don’t either
In practice, the second one means not allowing friends to drive drunk, or even strangers. It means finding a designated driver, or another sober ride home, this New Year’s eve.
And in the coming year, it means supporting anti-drunk driving legislation in your state.
Those are measures that are proven to save lives. We can’t think of a better resolution for the New Year than to be sober behind the wheel, and make sure as many others as possible are as well.
See you in 365 days – safe and sound.
