When can I get my ignition interlock installed?
The timing of installing an IID in Florida depends on many factors. If you are a first-time offender and are granted the right to be part of a diversion program, interlock device installation can occur as soon as you pass your DUI program and pay the necessary fines. It’s best to check with the jurisdiction of your offense to see if you are eligible for the diversion program before proceeding.
After conviction, you may be required by law to install an ignition interlock device on every vehicle you own. DUI school is mandatory and evaluation for alcohol abuse may be ordered.

What are the steps to obtain a Hardship License in Florida?
Requirements for a Hardship License in Florida are determined by the jurisdiction where the offense happened. Some jurisdictions have diversion programs and some don’t. Installing an interlock may reduce or eliminate the license suspension requirement, but make sure you are eligible first. Check with the Clerk of Courts in the county where the offense took place.
Florida requires that you pass a certified DUI program before installing your IID. Here is a list of programs in Florida. After you pass, apply for a Hardship License through the FL Highway Safety Motor Vehicles Division.
