When can I get my Ignition Interlock Device (IID) installed?
In Nevada, your license is suspended or confiscated immediately if your breath alcohol concentration (BAC) is .08 or above or if you refuse the test. You will have temporary driving privileges for 7 days. After that, a 90-day suspension starts. However, after 45 days of that suspension, the state may allow you to install an ignition interlock device in lieu of the remainder of the suspension.
After conviction, the courts will require an interlock device installation, even for a first offense. Jail time, fines, and a mandatory substance abuse education course, and attendance at a victim impact panel may also be ordered.
