What can I expect from the LifeSafer L250?

How do I take a breath alcohol test on the L250 device?
- Turn on the device
- · When prompted, blow and hum a consistent tone into the device for 3-5 seconds
- · If no alcohol is detected, you may start your vehicle· If the device detects alcohol, the vehicle will not start, and you will be prompted to test again
What do I do if I fail a test on the L250 interlock device?
Different states have different rules for failed breath tests. If you fail a breath test on the L250, the device will show a “Fail” result on the screen, indicating that your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) was above the predetermined level, and you cannot start your vehicle.
Generally, a temporary lockout will occur after a failed breath test. The length of that lockout is set by jurisdiction and will be programmed into your L250 device at installation. Usually, that lockout time is around 2–15 minutes.
Once the lockout is complete, you will be prompted to take a retest. If the retest is successful, you can start your vehicle.
However, if the retests, and any subsequent retests, fail, you will not be able to start your car. This is dependent on the rules of your state and jurisdiction. In some jurisdictions, multiple failed breath tests could result in a permanent lockout requiring a service provider code to restore device and vehicle functionality.
