Maine Interlock Process
How do I get an interlock license?
1.) Serve Suspension Time
Serve applicable suspension period – 1st offense/30 days.
2.) Complete An Education Program
Participate and complete an alcohol abuse assessment and education program.
3.) Pay All Fees
Pay all applicable reinstatement fees and fines.
4.) File A Petition
File a petition with the Secretary of State and receive written approval prior to having the device installed. There is a $50 application fee to apply for ignition interlock.
5.) Install An Ignition Interlock
Once approval is received from the Secretary of State to have the device installed, contact LifeSafer at 855-537-1597 to schedule an installation or schedule online.
6.) Drive
LifeSafer will electronically provide the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles will proof of installation within 24 hours of the device being installed.
