4 Tips For Staying Safe This Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day is just around the corner marking the end of summer. Time for one last summer trip. This year especially, it’s a time to rest and relax. With COVID ever present, people are craving a bit of fun, right?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reminds us that Labor Day can be one of the most deadly holidays of the year. On average, those three days result in over 400 fatal crashes across the US. Approximately 40% of those are due to people driving while intoxicated. Remember: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.

There’s so much you can do to help prevent these avoidable results. Here are a few tips to help keep you, your family, and your friends safe:

Tip 1:

If you are planning to drink, just plan ahead for a designated driver. If everyone in your group takes turns being the DD, everyone stays safe. It is never okay to drink and drive.

Tip 2:

If you see an impaired driver on the road, report it. Dial 911 and help law enforcement get that person off the road.

Tip 3:

If there’s drinking, plan fun activities that do not involve driving anywhere. In other words, stay in instead of going out.

Tip 4:

Ride sharing is a thing and it’s easy. Book it ahead of time and don’t even take your car.

Go ahead and have fun over the Labor Day weekend, just make sure you do it safely. Share these tips with your friends and family to make sure they stay safe too.
