How Do I Get An Ignition Interlock Device (iid) Installed In Ohio?

When can I get my IID installed?

The state of Ohio has an automatic 90-day suspension upon arrest, however, driving privileges can be restored if you are ordered by the court to install an ignition interlock device. It’s best to check with your probation officer and see if you are eligible. If you are, your suspension may be reduced based on your court order.

What are the steps to license recovery in Ohio?

It’s possible to reduce or avoid a license suspension by having an IID installed.

If you have been convicted of an OVI in Ohio and ordered to install an IID, you will need an interlock license from the Ohio BMV. Check with your probation officer for specific requirements.

If you are eligible, call LifeSafer Ignition Interlock at 800-634-3077 to schedule your interlock device installation.

Depending on your specific court order, you may be required to complete the Driver Intervention Program, alcohol screenings, and provide proof of a SR22 insurance rider. Contact your own insurance company to obtain the rider. Pay all fees and fines, including a license reinstatement fee.
