Thanks to Him, Northern Virginia is No Country for Drunk Drivers

From the Washington Post, a portrait of Jeremy Schenck, a dedicated police officer in Prince William,prince-william-county-police Virginia who has arrested more drunk drivers than any officer in Northern Virginia:

Prince William police officer leads Northern Virginia in DUI arrests

The story relates his journey from the back of the police car to the front — as a teenager he was riding in a car that was stopped by police, and which was found to contain alcohol. In recent years he has arrested impaired drivers by the hundreds, and has been honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

It’s worth noting that Officer Schenck thinks that Virginia’s mandatory ignition interlock law has reduced the number of drunk drivers he sees. Between interlocks and Officer Jeremy Schenck, drivers are most definitely safer in Virginia these days.
